My Symbol - North

After some realization I have finally found my symbol and I believe that it is very important that I did so at this point and time.  When all things around me seems to have gone astray, I needed something that would hold me and keep my wits.  And so I have found the symbol that signifies my North.

I believe it is important that we keep in mind always of our own North.  The things that keep us forward in life.  The path that we choose to take to live the life we have.  It is important that we know what composes our North and what our North does for us.

These are the things that inspire us, that makes us grow, that we believe in.  The things that would propel us forward to the path that we need to take.  A reminder that there is something ahead only if we pursue and persevere.  At the back of our north would be all the mistakes and learning that we have gone through.  All the things that made us who we are.  And on the front of our North would be all the things that we aspire to be and where we are headed.  These are the things that pull us towards our goals and aspirations.

My North is my family and the future that awaits us.  What I do know would affect the kind of future that I am to give to them.  And so I must carefully use my symbol and make sure that like a pointer in a compass it would lead me to the right direction.  Like the hand of a clock it would tell the right time.

Everytime that I would now look at my symbol I would always be reminded to look North. Remember my North.  Don’t forget to step forward and proceed. This is my symbol, my North.

Not Everybody Happy with IOS 7

Now that you people have been trying the candy inspired IOS version which is new from Apple, you’d get to choose whether you would like to continue with IOS 7 or revert back to IOS 6.x.  You can download the firmware image on the link HERE.

Before you downgrade your device, better back it up with iTunes.  Also take note that if you are a Windows user, you would need to have a 7-zip extractor to extract the IPSW file (Image File) that you would be downloading and using for your downgrade.

As a quick reference to your downgrade, the tasks you would need would be to:

1) Backup your device using i-Tunes.

2) Download the appropriate IOS 6.x image file for your device.

3) Extract the image file with 7-zip.

4) Open your itunes, and click+shift on the restore button.

5) Choose the extracted firmware file

6) Dowgrade your device back to IOS 6.

Mornings are Different

Some mornings I would just wake up happy and refreshed, nut not this morning.  This morning I bring with me the weight of the news last night.  IT is not hard to accept the news that my youngest sibling has Stage IIB Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  It seems that now a days, I get to experience a lot of flashbacks about the experiences that I had with my brother.

It is encouraging to know that his oncologist is optimistic about the treatment, and that there is a good chance of getting cured.  I do pray that his immune system would be able to take the treatment that my brother would be able to take this.

I Will Write Because I can

Today like any other day I have decided to start off doing something new.  With this that I have decided to do, a thing that I believe would improve myself considerably.

I have proven recently that it is possible for me to reinvent myself.  So I have decided that my reinvention has not stopped yet and that I should continually change if I were o succeed in life.

I have gone tired of waiting for things to happen, and I should start to grab my life by the collar and point myself to the right direction.  I have been stagnant and I have waited, and all this waiting has led me to nothing.

So this is my day today.  Today is change.

Panata Iglesia Manila 2011

Holy week this year, I have decided to do my own take on Visita Iglesia and decided to walk my way to the Churches.  A way of showing my “panata” (devotion, vow or oath) to my religion.  Having been a permanent resident of the City of Manila, I discovered that there are a number of old Churches (Iglesia) that was built within the City.  And having done an initial check and plotting out my route, I have come up to twenty one (21) churches all in all.

I have yet to confirm the fact  (and would definitely write about it) that all these 21 churches are more than a hundred years old. And throughout the whole undertaking, I do plan to document it so that it would be possible for me to do the same next year.

My jump-off point would be the corner of Qurino Ave. and Pedro-Gil (which would be practical for me) and I have plotted my whole route below. (screen captures via Google maps)

What makes this journey different is the fact that, more than half of these churches I have not been to.  Similarly all the paths and roads that is planned in the route are mostly based from Google Maps.  Similarly I plan to document the trip through some gear that I would be bringing along (good luck to me carrying all these stuff).

But the ultimate kicker here is that when I told my dear mom yesterday of what I planned to do, she persistently wants to join me.  I haven’t the slightest clue if it would be the walking that would act as my penitence or being with my mom (joking “a bit” of course ).  Anyways we start off at 12MN of the 22nd of April 2011.  Pray for our undertaking as we pray and believe at the little good left in this world!

Testing Out A New Media

Technology is such a wonderful thing as ot aims to better our lives by making things easier and more accessible. I have recently acquired my first Apple device (IP4s) and I could honestly say I now am wondering why I put off getting one for the longest time. Now I know what all the hype is about.

I have currently armed my new tool with the basic applications that I have been using in the past. And I am happy to note that I have been adjusting well in using these tools in this new platform. I have been telling my wife that Apple really made products which were "elegantly simple". And I hope and pray that though they just lost a stalwart, they do good on Steve Jobs legacy and continue creating the products that they have been making all these time.

Now that I an armed with this new medium, I do expect that I'd be able to share more of my thoughts and continue what I have started thee months ago. I do target to improve on how I write and what I write. And to be able to share a piece of my mind to the world.

An Unofficial Brotherhood

Our team went through one of our hell days today. We had an engineer on sick leave, one who started maternity leave (though she later confirmed that it was a false alarm). One of our team leads went on emergency leave, an engineer on vacation leave, and I had two engineers deployed in a provincial assignment. And this was on top of 5 of our customers all of a sudden reporting problems, two high priority projects and only three deployable engineers.

In cases such as these it is really important for you to clear your mind and focus. For each activity that is lined up for us, we had the presence of mind to evaluate the tasks we were to take. To plan ahead and see what implications we would face if we chose one step over the other. And in the end we were ticking off the problems one by one and even had contingencies to spare.

I am very proud of my team for what they had accomplished today. They had acted unselfishly and proved that each one can depend on each other. It is wonderful to note that we have developed an unspoken bond with each other. A brotherhood tested by time and pressures of work. My brothers ... I thank you.
